Still from Two Blue Wolves Teaser

Pictured above: Still from the upcoming Two Blue Wolves teaser trailer. Featured: poet & playwright, Carlos Gomez-Marquez.

A lot going on with Two Blue Wolves. Here’s a little update:

The Digital Download
All of the songs to the soundtrack are in, except one that we’re in the process of re-mastering. There will be 14 tracks in all (13 original songs and 1 remix). This is an amazing album guys. I’ve been listening to it for 4 months and I’m still not sick of it. If that says anything. We have a rough mix completed of the audio book, featuring yours truly, and I’ll be going in to make the final tweaks in the coming weeks. The manuscript has gone through copyediting, and that too will be polished up in the next couple weeks.

Trailer
We’re in the middle of developing the first of two trailers for Two Blue Wolves. The first is the teaser, which runs about a minute. It’s a little mysterious. You guys are going to like it. I’ll post a link when it’s ready. We’ll probably end up featuring it on the teaser site and YouTube. The second trailer will be the full-on “feature” length – around two minutes – and it’ll run like a mini documentary. This is slated to come out closer to the launch date.

Music Videos / Additional Media
A few of the artists on the soundtrack have begun developing ideas for music videos for their songs. If anyone has contact with film people interested in doing some really cool videos for their reel, please let me know (sparrow@sparrowhall.com). More artists and bands have shown interest in producing music based on the story and we may end up putting out Two Blue Wolves singles by these bands as supplements to the bundle. So if you know of some talented people/bands that may want to get involved with this, let me know. (We’re already talking to some exciting folks)

Alzheimer’s Charity
We’re currently in contact with one of the largest chapters of the Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org), who are very interested in the project and recognize the value in bringing awareness to a younger demographic. We’re working to get the national counsel involved so we can tap into their nationwide “Champions” awareness campaign. Sort of like Bono’s Product (RED) for Africa. As far as I know, our contribution would be one of the only, if not the first, automated fund raising efforts to benefit Alzheimer’s research and caregiver support. I’ll keep you updated as things develop.

Launch Date
So when does it come out? That’s been a moving target, since there have been so many things to get in order, and until we’ve made a decision about distribution, we won’t know for sure. But based on where we’re at currently, I’d like to shoot for a late spring/early summer release (May/June), but sooner if possible.

Anyway, that’s a bit of what’s going on here. Stay tuned!

The new video for “A&E” is up. It looks like someone’s been watching Legend again.

I love a girl who can pull off the nightgown dress. Amid dancing forest spirits.

Song – “Weakness”

Filed under: Uncategorized — Sparrow @ 11:16 pm

The first duet I’ve written. The male parts are in italics.

“Weakness”
Lyrics by Sparrow Hall

I’ll stay the day
If you’ll stay the night
I’ll take the pain
If you’ll be the fight
I’ll be the target
If you’ll be the sight
I’ll be the hunger
If you’ll be the bite

You dress in black (I’ll dress in black)
I’ll dress in white (You dress in white)
I’ll keep it loose (You’ll keep it loose)
If you’ll keep it tight (I’ll keep it tight)
You say you won’t (I say I won’t)
But I say you might (But you say I might)
I’ll do some wrong (You’ll do some wrong)
If you’ll do it right (I’ll do it right)

(Chorus)
You be my strength
And I’ll be your weakness
I’ll learn a lesson
If you wanna teach it
You bring the mischief
I’ll bring the sweetness
I’ll be your strength
If you’ll be my weakness

You be my strength
And I’ll be your weakness
I’ll learn a lesson
If you wanna teach it
I’ll bring the mischief
If you’ll bring the sweetness
I’ll be your strength
If you’ll be my weakness

I’ll bring the smooth
If you’ll bring the roughness
I’ll bring the gentle
If you’ll bring the toughness
You be the hard
And I’ll be the softness
I can be the good
If you’ll be the lawless

I’ll be the treasure
If you wanna seek it
I’ll be the apple
If you wanna eat it
I’ll be the drug
If you ever need it
I’ll be the hunger
If you wanna feed it

I’ll dress in black (You dress in black)
You dress in white (I’ll dress in white)
You’ll keep it loose (I’ll keep it loose)
If I’ll keep it tight (You’ll keep it tight)
I say I won’t (You say you won’t)
But you say I might (But I say you might)
You’ll do some wrong (I’ll do some wrong)
If I’ll do it right (You’ll do it right)

(Chorus)

Official word on the TRASH! Party

Filed under: Uncategorized — Sparrow @ 11:10 pm

From Jess:

The uninhibited bathroom sex, the barely dressed dance floor mayhem, and the barrage of cute hipsters passed out on the sidewalks of TRASH! have finally become too much for the frail walls of Rififi to maintain. We’ve had 5 outrageous years of TRASH! at Rififi, but like college freshman without a condom, we had to pull out immediately before the 9th Precinct of NYC led Alex Malfunction and myself away in handcuffs. (I enjoy a little bondage as much as the next degenerate, but I’m certain the 9th Precinct is unaware of my safety word.) TRASH! will return, however, as soon as a new venue is confirmed! Alex Malfunction and myself can’t thank everyone enough for 5 wild years at Rififi, and promise you that the next 5 years of TRASH!, wherever it may be, will blow your f*cking skull.

The best is yet to come,
DJ JESS

Please god don’t let it be at The Annex. I went there last week for the Tis Was party and it was like a Feng Shui meltdown. Bad acoustics? No worries. Just turn it up. Dancefloor the size of a walk in closet? No worries. Just add green laser lights. A word to promoters everywhere: lasers fix vision. Not dancefloors.

Song – “This is Fission”

Filed under: Uncategorized — Sparrow @ 11:58 pm

As paranoid as it sounds, as I was getting ready for this year’s New Year’s Eve Party crawl, I couldn’t help but think, “I hope they don’t nuke us tonight.” Call me a child of the Cold War, or blame it on my fear of mass gatherings – whatever it is, that uneasy feeling didn’t really leave me until well after midnight. This morning I went for a walk to soak in the new year and wrote this song to purge some old fears.

“This is Fission”
Lyrics by Sparrow Hall

Shut down now
Come down now
Turn off the warning lights
The cities
White fire
Come see the morning lights

(Chorus)
This is fission
This is division
We make these atoms split
This is fission
Call off the mission
We know just how it is

All the pink babies
All the white ghosts
All the black shadows
Frozen to the coast
Sun’s path said it couldn’t last forever

We were the sisters
We were the brothers
We were the fathers
We were the mothers
Now just look at how we shine

(Chorus)

This is my side
This is your side
Let’s admit our own defeat
This is my son
This is your son
Let’s commit our own retreat

(Chorus)

Heavy Rotation – January

Filed under: Uncategorized — Sparrow @ 11:45 pm

“Temptation” gets the top spot in this month’s list since I was dancing my ass off to it last night while ringing in the new year. Happy 2008!

Temptation / New Order
The Blue Sky / A-ha
We Don’t Understand You / Apes & Androids
St Elmo’s Fire (Man In Motion) / John Parr
Primitive / Róisín Murphy
A&E / Goldfrapp
These Days / Nico
Traveling Not Runnning / EMF
Mediate / INXS
Dead / The Pixies

The new Goldfrapp single, A&E, made it onto this month’s list. I have no idea when the new album is coming out, but if this is any indictation of what’s in store, we may be looking at a complete sea change. It appears our impeccably dressed goldilocks has traded in her signature synth beats for orchestral overtures, and the results are just incredible. In honor of the new sound, I thought it’d be nice to take a look back at where it all began. Here’s a video of Alison Goldfrapp baking a cake in honor of her new (first) album, Black Cherry.
