Here’s a story I just finished. The Guardhouse & the Rain. I thought I’d post up an early draft just to get some feedback. I’ve been working on a few other super-short pieces along the lines of Guardhouse. Let me know what you think. To download the story, just click the image above. You can email me your feedback at sparrow@sparrowhall.com.
One of my short stories, Ms. W Is Out Today, was published in the second issue of Pomp & Circumstance Magazine. The full story is now available online at the new Pomp & Circumstance website – www.pomponline.com.
P&C is a punk lit magazine that was founded by a group of Bennington grads, headed up by Editor-in-Chief Kastoory Kazi. The magazine has featured some incredibly talented up-and-coming writers. I highly recommend picking up a copy. You can view a list of the retailers carrying P&C at the P&C myspace page).
Latest happenings – I’ll be serving as a producer and music supervisor for the film The Adventures of Walter Bloom by Ryan Aynes. We’re going into pre-production. There’s a passionate team behind it, and I’m thrilled about coming on board. Imagine: The Elephant Man as a comedy, and you’re in the right ballpark. We’re looking at some amazing bands for the soundtrack. We’re just in the early phases right now, but I’ll keep you posted as things start to pick up speed.
Here’s a shot from the party at the New Museum celebrating Bennington College’s 75th. I’m on the alumni committee – along with a few other trouble makers pictured here. That’s Garin Marschall on the far left, the lighting designer who collaborated on the Stranger In the Strangest Land video (starring his rap star brother Wythe Marschall). In the middle is David Anthony, founder of Metropolis DVD and artist Taliesin Thomas on my right.
President Liz Coleman delivered an exciting speech that night about the future of Bennington and how the school is planning to take a proactive roll in solving world issues – bringing leading activists to the campus and building a series of labs and workshops into the college’s core curriculum.
She also announced that the campus bar would be extending its hours until 2am.

This month is all about Crystal Castles. Their self-entitled full-length is playing on repeat as I type this.
CC is the kind of music you listen to when you get tossed out of a club in London. Dancey and dissonant. They get their name from the 1980s arcade game, which involves a little bear that scales the walls of a crystal castle as he collects gems and dodges ghosts and skeletons.
A lot of CC’s music draws from arcade game samples, which might seem incredibly annoying, but it actually works. Anyway, enough typing. I gotta get my dance on.
