One of the bands I’m most excited about right now is the British synth rock duo The Big Pink. Their beautiful new video for “Dominos” takes breaking the ice to a literal level. A big thanks to our friend Christopher Tilden at Ralph Lauren for pointing them out.
If you go to their site, you can download the track – and yes, even their website will make you want to strip to your underwear and dance.
Megan Faulkner is an incredibly talented photographer out of Toronto and a marketing guru for Scholastic Books. She also has an impeccable sense of fashion and has been talking to me about my upcoming release of Two Blue Wolves and how I really need to do something fashiony for it. As a springboard, she created this Polyvore ensemble of what she pictures the main character wearing.
I love the tall boots and the woolen jacket, and the hats are spot on. The gloves with the studs are incredibly sexy. I would have never thought of that, but yes, I can totally see them being worn by the main character. The ring made me smile, and the photo really captures the vibe of the story.
I was just introduced to Ben Hughes, a writer and creative director at Weiden+Kennedy who I’m going to be working with on an upcoming project. His talent makes me want to turn off my computer and become a farmer. I’ve been on his portfolio site for the past half hour, and have watched this spot for the Nokia N95 three times in a row.

Just as I was getting to the point where I hated everything on my summer playlist, along comes Discovery. Take the college dorm version of Hot Chip, invite over the guys from Passion Pit, and put on some JT & Timbaland, and see what happens.
According to the New York Times article “The Pain of Being a Redhead” by Tara Parker-Pope, “my people” are more likely to listen to emo and cry at the dentist.
I’m not a huge fan of Mad Men. I generally find the show heavy handed and over stylized. But I do love this scene – of how a product can tap into our memories and serve as a time machine, returning us to the selves we long to revisit.
The new video for “Burial,” directed by Daniel Wirtberg & Jonas Rudström. It makes me smile. Pure and simple. I love the way the song is tuned in throughout the city. And the kids dancing towards the end.
