I spent the morning eating pancakes and watching these two TED Conferences. The first is of Sir Ken Robinson talking about the need to nurture creativity in schools. Who knew knights had a sense of humor? Wait for the part about the little girl drawing the picture of God.
The other is brain researcher Jill Bolte Taylor. Her first hand account of what it’s like to experience a stroke kinda makes me want to have a brain hemorrhage.

It’s time to get your download on. That’s right folks. This month’s playlist is the first to be offered as an iMix on iTunes. One thing though, the track “Dominos” by The Big Pink hasn’t released yet—in which case, you might want to pre-order it, or check their site for where you can buy it (what I’ve heard of the album sounds great).
In other exciting news, I just found a bunch of tapes from high school. One that was played so much that the words were completely rubbed off the cassette. I popped it into an old boom box to see what it was, and guess what I heard?
Look at that grooming. The man is so sexy his name is written in hieroglyphics. And as far as make out albums go, this one still holds up. I especially love the lesser known Side B tracks like “Hard Day,” “Look At Your Hands” and the track featured in this month’s playlist. If you want to remember what remixes sounded like in the 80s, listen to the awesomely absurd Shep Pettibone Remix of “Hard Day,” in which Shep (one of Madonna’s former producers) manages to hit every button on the synthesizer.
How does someone actually have a voice like this? Amazing to see him bring it live. I want Antony to battle Robert Smith in a sad-off. The winner gets to keep this sweater.
I’m probably the last person you’d see queuing up for an Off Broadway show, but I love this writer’s work – Tony Glazer. I blogged about his last play Stain, which made me happy that I never have to be a teenager again. His work tends to be brutally hilarious. Usually in that order. Comparisons could be drawn to Neil LaBute and David Rabe (among other happy campers).

Talk about owning the look. Why don’t more women fly planes? Or at least dress like they do.
