Biography
Chuck Bianchi is a solo bassist and a graduate of the Berklee College of Music. He is based in Rochester, NY.
Chuck paired with long-time musical collaborator, guitarist Jerry Preston, to create "White Light September," a song based on Sparrow Hall's short story, Two Blue Wolves. The song is featured on the Two Blue Wolves Soundtrack.
Chuck writes and performs music that examines the melodic potential and range of expression possible in the solo bass guitar. His compositions inspire an ethereal, introspective and often melancholic atmosphere. His originative solo arrangements and compositions utilize various slapping and tapping techniques, altered tunings, the E-Bow and his unique approach to counterpoint on the bass guitar.
Over the last ten years Chuck has been composing and making music with Jerry Preston. Together, they have created a style that experiments with many different ensembles and genres, drawing on everything from the impressionistic music of Ravel and soundscapes of Steve Roach to the progressive sounds of Dream Theater and minimalism of Erik Satie.
In 2002, Bianchi and Preston released their first album together. The disc, entitled Dreaming Out Loud, serves as a condensed culmination to a decade’s worth of exploration. The critically acclaimed album is a graceful compilation of bass solos, guitar pieces and duets. Music from the disc has been featured on radio programs such as Music of the 21st Century and the nationally syndicated Echoes with John Diliberto.
